my equipment

Here you'll find stuff related to PCs, Windows, Android, software, and other "techie stuff".
The main system I have been using in the den is a Dell XPS420 I bought early 2005.

Dell XPS420

It has an Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz 64-bit processor, 8GB of RAM, 3 1TB installed hard drives, DVD ROM and DVD RW installed, an LG BluRay RW drive with a 1GB wired network and 802.11n wireless network.

On a nearby desk I have my Gateway GM5076E. In general quite a bit less powerful I still use it for emergencies and as a backup, network storage, etc. It has an Intel Pentium D 3.2GHz 32-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, 1.47TB of disc space (on 2 drives).

Finally, I have a Dell Studio Hybrid 140G. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz 64-bit processor (OS is only 32-bit), 4 GB RAM, 300GB of installed hard drive. It is connected to the TV and sound system in the living room and I use it for "entertainment" purposes like streaming movies over the 1GB network and watching media over the internet.

going mobile

My first "untethered" device was a Dell Inspiron laptop. It worked well and lasted quite some time. My biggest issue with it was the specs were lacking and I wanted more!

Dell Inspiron 15

I sold it to a friend (her first laptop) after buying an HP workhorse. It was big tho, with it's 17" screen, and heavy! But it had the speed and capacity I was looking for.

HP dv9930

After several years I finally purchased my first tablet - an ASUS. It was nothing spectacular, but it served it's purpose.

ASUS Transformer FT300T

After a couple years, the jack for the power/charger some how got messed up and to use it I had to keep the cable plugged in. So much for mobile!

Finances were not good, so ended up getting another tablet with less power. An Azpen A1040. Never heard of the brand. It worked well until the center of the screen became unreponsive to touch.

Now I recently bought an RCA Viking Pro which I am very happy with! Pretty good specs (Quad Core 32GB,1GB RAM, HDMI, Bluetooth, WiFi, Android 6.0 Marshmallow) AND good reviews.
